Friends of Monument Valley Park

What

Our all-volunteer group protects and preserves Monument Valley Park, in order to carry on General Palmer’s vision of a natural park for us all to enjoy. We repair the park’s historic stone entryways, walls, overlooks and bridges, as well as care for the park’s vegetation. We organize free music concerts, guided bird, wildflower, and tree walks, and park cleanups, which provide beneficial and educational activities for our community.

Why

Monument Valley Park is a downtown oasis that our community uses every day to run, bike, walk, and play. It is key to the quality of life for many urban workers and city residents. Its historic stone features and natural landscape create a unique experience for park users. City funding is insufficient to maintain the park. Without our group’s efforts, the park’s century old stonework would be lost forever.

Needs

Volunteers to join our Board of Directors, manage & expand our social media presence, organize events in the park for community members, and participate in park cleanups.

Did You Know

Our Friends group was instrumental in raising the funds needed for the repair of the historic stonework next to Shadow Lake, the recently restored pond in the park.

“Friends of Monument Valley Park are truly doing the "heavy lifting," preserving historic stonework for all of us.” — Susan Davies, Exec. Director of TOSC
